Who are the Kings and Queens of Hollywood? November 23, 2007
Posted by blogerita in : Entertainment , add a commentTry to guess who are the real Kings and Queens of Hollywood? Hint: They don’t appear on interviews, people don’t recall their names, people don’t see their faces. Obviously, these people are not the producers, not the directors and definitely, not the actors and actresses.
Producers, directors, actors and actresses are easily replaceable. As long as you dangle the carrots in front of them, they will queue up for the jobs.
The real Kings and Queens of Hollywood are the scriptwriters. Their current strike over wages is crippling the whole industry. Many theaters are closed. Many more will follow suit. An estimate of 60 television programs will stop. Many more people will be out of their jobs.
I hope they will find an amicable solution to this problem or else my favorite television programs will go off the air soon.
England is out of Euro 2008 November 23, 2007
Posted by blogerita in : Sports , add a commentIt was such a shock. England failed to make it into the finals of Euro 2008 in Austria & Switzerland. To rub salt into the wound, they lost to Croatia 2-3 in Wembley, the home of English soccer. I am sure thousands of English fans cried about their team misfortune. Fortunately, we did not show their ugly face of hooliganism.
As in every defeat, someone has to take the brunt. Team manager, Steve McClaren and his assistant Terry Venables were sacked by the English FA. Accordingly to Steve McClaren, he took the full responsibility of the defeat. This is the first time England has failed to enter the final rounds in any major competition since 1994 World Cup.
Steve McClaren was appointed team manager 18 months ago and was hailed as the true saviour for England team. He did many courageous decisions like dropping David Beckham which I fully supported. David Beckham was more of a poster boy of English FA than a true world class player who went all out to play for his country. However, with his current crop of players, talents are lacking and success seems to be evading them.
I am sure Steven McClaren and Terry Venables will land themselves to another job somewhere. They were great players during their time. I am sure they will raise again. All the best to you Steve and Terry!
