Stockholm:The ten Nobel prize winners were honored for their achievements in science and literature. King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden presented the awards to the winners at Stockholm’s Concert Hall. The Nobel prizes for medicine, physics, chemistry, economics and literature were awarded yesterday.
The winners for literature - Doris Lessing, 88 - and co-winner for economics Leonid Hurwicz - could not be there in person to receive the award due to health reason.
The Nobel Peace prize was awarded in Oslo to Al Gore and UN’s climate panel.
Albert Fert from France and Peter Gruenberg from Germany were awarded the physics prize. Gerhard Ertl from Germany was awarded the chemistry prize. Mario Capecchi and Oliver Smithies from United States and Sir Martin J. Evans from United Kingdom were awarded the medicine prize.
Each prize is worth 10 million kroner and the winners were announced in October.
