Skin disease linked to early death December 19, 2007

Chicago: People with severe form of skin diseases psoriasis are likely to die earlier than their healthy peers. This illness is expected to shorten the life expectancy of the patients of about five percent which is about three years for men and four years for women.

This study was conducted by University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia.

Psoriasis is a form of skin disease which is common but incurable and characterize by outbreak of scaly red patches of skin. It can appear in any part of the body. Treatment includes steriod medication and ultra violet light treatment
